freakishstring asked: Hello Mrs Ramone, here's a question that has bothered me for months: Why do you never play 'Moped Girls' and 'My Love Will Follow Me' live? Those are some of your greatest songs in my opinion :) Greetings from Germany.
Hey! The reason is mainly because those songs never sounded that great to us when we played them live. “Moped Girls” is weirdly hard for me to sing while playing, because I didn’t write the melody and chords at the same time. And “My Love Will Follow Me” has the organ solo at the end and it didn’t sound as good when I played it as a guitar solo instead. Sorry ;)

otterageous asked: Hey Cassie! This is the little grrrl whose jacket you signed last night at 285 kent. I just gotta say that yr totally rad and you and the rest of the Babes are über groovy. Oh, and now for the question: what was yr first tattoo, and what does it mean to you? I really like your cat tattoo on yr right forearm by the way. ヾ(°ヮ°)ゞ
Hey! Thank you!
My first tattoo was the cassette tape near my elbow. I got it when I was 19. It was right around Christmas/New Year’s and I had booked my first vacation ever as an “adult,” to the Bay Area to visit some friends of mine who lived there… I had never been to California before that unless you count Death Valley. Anyway, when I was there I helped my friend out by acting in this short film she was making, and as a thank you she gave me a $50 gift certificate for a tattoo that she had won in a raffle. I didn’t really have a good idea for a tattoo though so I decided to get a cassette tape because I love music (and analog music formats) so much. So dorky. If I could go back in time I would have gotten something cooler. I’m just lucky that I wasn’t getting tattoos at age 16, because then I would have ended up with something actually bad. But I still don’t regret it.

greengrayrain asked: Hi Cassie, how do you (as an artist) do not to sound like your favorite bands? I'm so afraid that when I form a band I may sound like my favorite bands or my inspirations, I mean, you like the wipers or nirvana, but you don't sound like them at all, how do you do? this is killing me! HELP!
I think it’s actually way more difficult to sound exactly like a band you love than not. If you sound a lot like another band, it probably means that you’re pulling some sort of mathematical equation (loud drums + distorted guitars + angsty vocals = Nirvana, or something. But even more detailed than that), and that’s no fun. The thing about Vivian Girls is that we have a lot of different tastes in music, so the music we make is kind of an amalgamation of stuff pulled from radically different places. It’s not like we were ever trying to sound like anyone in particular - what came out is what came out. Good luck!!!

squarehaus asked: Is My Tears gonna be on the new Babies record? If so, are you singing it?? If not, aw.

blood-eyed asked: This is not a question, it's a statement of fact. You got the girls to play 'Dance (If You Wanna)' for me in NOLA, and dedicated the song to me. It pretty much made my year, and I can't wait to see you come to the Crescent City again. Cassie, you're my favorite. Let's party next time? Harder, of course.
Haha DUH you know it!! xoxo
